Toyota Matrix – Check Engine Light On again off again

October 17, 2010 Comments off

We are the proud owner of a 2003 Toyota Matrix, which we bought in the autumn of 2002. For the most part it was a good reliable machine. It has space for four adults comfortably and is a breeze to park in tight spaces. The petrol consumption is not bad at 29-33 miles per gallon in city and highway.

A vexing problem with the matrix we have, the check engine light comes on from time to time and then turns itself off. I was having going to the dealership looked at himwhen the light is all. For mechanically not look like an idiot I never went to see a reseller.

After talking with several people on the matrix and the control light engine problem, I learned that the trouble code is set in the fuel evaporative emissions. It appears that the evaporative fuel systems on the matrix are quite sensitive to changes in the lid of the tank empty, the system can attract not only in the immediate vicinity. E 'They are the major causes of this problem with the fuel evaporation system, but the gas cap is loose or broken for the most common cause, especially when the light goes on and the same. If there was a real problem, as a mechanic would remain until it is diagnosed and reset.

After learning that the evaporative emissions system was above the rear suspension was not really worrying concern that if it was not really the cause ofthe problem. I decided to do the easy work first and check for leaks and vacuum any other type of sealing problems with the gas cap. What I found that seemed to solve the problem was the seal cap by a kind of sticky thread, which must come from a gun of the gas supply has been contaminated. The sticky thread attached so closely to the gas filler on the matrix seemed like it should be there. The thread has caused the fuel tank cap to seal that caused the check engine light to comewhen the vacuum is not what we should be feeding system were within the evaporative cooling. What was the input, running surface for the same reason that a new gas cap is not solving the problem.

So if you are with the engine light flashing, that the gas cap and filler neck to make sure you always have a good seal, so the void of law can be developed in the system.

We are the proud owner of a 2003 Toyota Matrix, which we bought in the autumn of 2002. In most cases a good car was reliable. There is seating for four adults comfortably and a breeze to park in tight spaces. Fuel consumption is not bad at 29-33 miles per gallon in city and highway.

An annoying problem with the matrix, we had the check engine light goes periodically, and then remove itself. I was having to go to the dealer lookedwhen the light is all. To not look like an idiot I've never watched a dealer mechanic.

After talking with some people on the matrix and the engine control problem Light I learned that the trouble code is set within the fuel system evaporative emissions. It seems that the fuel systems on the matrix are quite sensitive to changes in evaporative inside the vacuum system is not simply tightening the gas cap securely. Usare major causes of this problem with the fuel evaporation system, but the cap is broken or lost the most common cause, especially if the light goes off and alone. If there was a real problem, the light would have been a mechanic until he was diagnosed and reset.

After learning that the evaporative and disturbing were above the rear suspension, I was really anxious that if it was really the cause ofthe problem. I decided to work quickly and check for vacuum leaks and any other type of sealing problems with the gas cap. What I found that seemed to solve the problem was the gas cap seal has gone through a kind of sticky thread that came from a nozzle is contaminated. The sticky thread has been locked so closely to the position of the neck to the matrix, there seemed to be. The thread was the cause of the fuel cap not to close the check engine light to come duewhen the vacuum is not what it should have been inside the fuel system evaporative cooling. The tank cap was on the sliding surface for the same reason that a new gas cap is not solving the problem.

So if you are with the engine management light flashing, check the cap and the filler neck to make sure you have a good grip of the vacuum left in the system can be developed.
